We were laughing then I lost you
You were aching all the time
All your failures in a line
Dare I wish that I could hold you
They were the best of all the days
But I was numb and you were brave
Shouldn't a heart be good?
Shouldn't we all be understood?
But I was giving it up
And you were holding it down
I was so insecure
A mind that's always on the road
And time was never enough
We were the talk of the town
Wishing I was strong
No regrets we didn't make it
Just know that you were loved
For the things that should matter
And now when I'm alone
I'm daydreaming I could change it
Forgive me I was wrong
I never knew where I belonged
It's a glamorous illusion
Are we in a better place?
Between the ladders and the snakes
Crossing seas before the winter
Edging closer, letting go
You don't know until you know
Shouldn't a heart be good?
Shouldn't we all be understood?
But time was never enough
We were the talk of the town
Wishing I was strong
No regrets we didn't make it
Just know that you were loved
For the things that should matter
And now when I'm alone
I'm daydreaming I could change it
Forgive me I was wrong
I never knew where I belonged
I never knew where
Forgive me I was wrong
I never knew where I belonged

I remember in my childhood near a village there was a place full of dead trees, red and dead from all the chemicals that were dumped into the nearby bay from the chemical plant. That's exactly the vibes I get from this effort, similar in story or not. Morbid! But hopefully a wake up call for some as well. Aleksei Tepljakov
